Genus Formica, 6 mm body length, 47.570811N 52.706596W (WGS84), St. John's, Northeast Avalon, This ant was carrying the caterpillar segment somewhere. Is it safe to assume that he/she was headed back to the ant colony? Will it be used as food? The ant would move fast for a short while and then rest for a couple of seconds, repeating that sequence has it traveled. I guess the load was a bit heavy. Caterpillar's head, Approx. 2 cm total body length Aphid Mummy, 47.630765N 52.687015W (WGS84), Logy Bay, 1mm length Tipula paludosa (Common european crane flies) Tipula paludosa (Common european crane flies)

Species Eristalis arbustorum Tribe Syrphini Lucilia sp. (Calliphoridae) - A Blow Fly Genus Sphaerophoria - Syrphid Flies This 'clup' of insect was only about 1cm long. The individuals were extremely tiny; under 1mm. I think this is a 4th (or possibly 5th) instar female nymph of the common (marsh) meadow grasshopper or Chorthippus curtipennis.
Chrysops sordidus male - 10mm Body Length. Found on our bathroom floor about 11:00PM. It was alive but not healthy and could not fly. Chrysops sordidus male - 10mm Body Length. Found on our bathroom floor about 11:00PM. It was alive but not healthy and could not fly. Spider, species Araniella displicata This mosquito landed on my fingertip as I was doing some macro photography outdoors. I decided to try and snap a photo of the mosquito as it was having its meal of my blood. The ridges seen in the photo are skin ridges that form my fingerprints. In the upper right, you can see the blood inside the mosquito. Rove Beetle - Quedius sp. Ground Beetle - Carabidae, Harpalus
Lycosidae (Wolf Spider), 9 mm Body Length Centipede Estimated overall length is 3mm. This 'bug' was sitting on a leaf along a walking trail in a wooded area. There appeared to be many similar 'bugs' landing on the leaves of the bushes there. This specimen flew away before I could get another angle and the wind was blowing so hard I couldn't get a shot of another specimen that was in focus. I guess I was lucky to get this image. Thiis Dragon Fly appeared injured and got not fly for any sustained period. I found it sitting on our driveway. It was 45mm in length.
