CentipedeLithobius (Sigibius) micropodus (?)* |
||||
I believe that the images on this page show a Lithobius (Sigibius) micropodus centipede. They are all of the same bug. I found this guy in our backyard, under a rock that I overturned on 2006-04-29, at about 1:30 PM local time (NDT). This specimen had a body length of 6 mm, plus antennae. I'm not certain but I think that there may be one leg missing on each side. From the top-down view, it appears that it's missing the 4th leg on the right side and the 7th leg on the left side. It was photographed on 2004-04-24, with a Canon 20D and EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM lens and a 1.4x tele-converter in natural sunlight. *Caveat: I am NOT an entomologist and, as with all my bug pictures, I am NOT positive about the accuracy of my taxonomic identification.
